Start with the match
A certificate of analysis is useful only when it matches the material and batch being discussed. Compare the product designation, salt form where applicable, batch identifier and issue date. A polished page or a supplier logo cannot substitute for this match.
Separate result from specification
The specification states the agreed acceptance criteria. A result records what was measured for a batch. A method reference explains the measurement context. These fields should not be collapsed into a single promotional percentage.
Ask about the evidence behind a summary
A report may summarize chromatographic purity or identity evidence. Ask which supporting records are available, who issued the report and whether any values were supplied by another party. Do not assume that a report covers endotoxin, sterility, residual components or stability unless those items are actually included.
Use verification carefully
A lookup result should retrieve a real published record. No result can mean that a record is not public or that an identifier was entered differently; it does not independently establish a product’s authenticity or quality. Contact the documentation team for an exact match.
